600 Wolverhampton tenants benefit from completed retrofit works

More than 600 council properties in Wolverhampton have undergone significant upgrades as part of an ongoing housing retrofit programme aimed at improving asset performance and tenant comfort.

The council stated the works delivered “warmer, greener and more energy efficient homes” for council tenants living in an ageing housing stock.

Works included the installation of external and cavity wall insulation, replacement of external doors, upgrades to double glazing, and re-roofing. These measures have contributed to better thermal performance, reduced energy consumption, and improved overall property condition.

The authority secured £5m in funding from the Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, enabling the council to address long-standing maintenance issues while aligning with sustainability targets.

Properties across multiple areas, including Bushbury, Heath Town, Bilston, and Wednesfield, have benefited from the upgrades. Feedback from residents indicates improved indoor temperatures and reduced heating costs, highlighting the effectiveness of the works in enhancing tenant satisfaction.

Wolverhampton Homes managed the delivery of the programme on behalf of the council.
