ASCP releases industry leading white paper in response to Government consultation on building safety reforms in light of Grenfell

The Association of Safety & Compliance Professionals (ASCP) – in partnership with CORGI Technical Services – has released a white paper entitled ‘The Future of Safety Management’. The paper offers an invaluable insight into the Government’s consultation document: ‘Proposals for reform of the building safety regulatory system’.

Seeking views on the proposals for a radically new building and fire safety system which puts residents’ safety at its heart, the Government consultation looks at how the sector can work to change behaviours and culture, ensuring we all know our responsibilities for complex residential buildings that not only include new-builds but existing stock. The consultation also asks if it should include other types of residential/non-residential buildings.

The ASCP is leading the way in delivering a white paper that supports the Government’s drive to put residents’ safety at the heart of future reforms. Authored by Colin Scoines, ASCP’s Head of Governance and Procurement, the white paper breaks down the government’s consultation, to provide a guide to what it means to Compliance Managers and the sweeping scope of the proposed reforms – including the handling of risk management and how information is managed over the lifecycle of the building and wider legal requirements.

The association has drafted an eighteen-page response to the consultation document authored by the Government, which is available for all ASCP, AGSM and AESM members to download directly within the member portal of their respective websites, as well as calling for its own members and non-members to share their views on the important topic – via the dedicated survey portal, or by cscoines(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)corgitechnical.com – before the consultation period draws to a close at the end of July.

Non-members are also encouraged to request a copy of the white paper, by contacting the ASCP directly: info(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)ascp.org.uk

The ASCP provides a wide range of professional membership services and benefits to people responsible for managing wider safety and compliance issues across the social housing and facilities management sector, with its organisation incorporating the Association of Gas Safety Managers (AGSM) and the Association of Electrical Safety Managers (AESM).
