Bellway has completed a multi-million-pound bulk sale of 88 apartments at Barking Riverside to registered provider Flint Housing.
The deal will make more affordable homes available to people in Barking and Dagenham as Bellway delivers on its commitment to building more than 2,000 apartments and houses at Barking Riverside.
Flint Housing has purchased one, two and three-bedroom homes located within two apartment blocks at Horizons at Fielders Quarter. These will be made available for social rent to households on Barking and Dagenham London Borough Council’s housing waiting list.
Horizons is the fifth phase of Bellway’s Fielders Quarter development and will comprise a total of 440 apartments when completed. A one-minute walk to the Barking Riverside Overground, Fielders Quarter sits within the broader Barking Riverside regeneration project.

“This agreement with Flint Housing will make a significant contribution towards the provision of affordable homes at Barking Riverside and also help to accelerate the delivery of new housing.
“High-quality affordable housing is an essential ingredient in building strong, inclusive and diverse communities. This deal means that 60 per cent of the homes we are building at Horizons will be affordable, available for either social rent, shared ownership or London Affordable Rent.”
The bulk sale includes all 50 apartments in the seven-storey Block B, as well as 38 of the 80 apartments in the adjoining eight-storey Block C. Both apartment blocks will be equipped with secure cycle storage on the lower ground floor, and residents will also benefit from a range of enhanced safety and security features like CCTV and interactive door entry systems, ensuring peace of mind and convenience for all who live there.

Horizons features five apartment blocks in total, including the 15-storey Block D known as the Hawkins Apartments, the tallest building to be built at Barking Riverside to date. The first apartments for private sale, located within the 12-storey Block A known as the Penney Apartments, were released onto the market last summer and the first buyers are due to move in by early next year.
Bellway is currently in the process of building more than 2,000 homes at Fielders Quarter as part of the wider redevelopment of the former Barking Power Station site. Barking Riverside is regenerating the land which is earmarked to eventually deliver up to 20,000 homes, with Bellway set to deliver a large proportion of this total.
