Cardo has been reappointed by Dacorum Borough Council to continue delivering repairs and maintenance services for the council’s 10,500 homes.
The new contract starts on 1 July 2026 for an initial five-year term with an option to extend for a further five years and with an approximate value of £395m. It will see Cardo continue to provide essential property maintenance services, deliver planned improvements, and support residents and local groups through targeted community-focused social value initiatives.
This reappointment follows a strong performance and high-quality service delivery by the Cardo team, reflecting the successful partnership developed with the council over the past 11 years, with over 700 hours supporting local community projects and over £10m spent by Cardo in Dacorum in the last year alone. The new contract will see 12 local apprentices working on this contract in 2026.
Councillor Simy Dhyani, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Property Services at Dacorum Borough Council, said:
“Our priority is ensuring residents live in safe, comfortable, and well-maintained homes, and Cardo has shown a real understanding of our communities and demonstrated a commitment to delivering a responsive, value for money, quality service to our residents.
“Resident satisfaction and service performance have been consistently strong under this partnership, and we look forward to continuing to work with Cardo to make a lasting difference for our residents.”
Natasha Beresford, Strategic Director for Housing at Dacorum Borough Council, said:
“While repairs will continue to be reported in the same way, this new contract gives us a positive opportunity to further improve services, shaped by resident feedback. We will share more details about service improvements in the future as part of our commitment to safe, reliable, and high-quality services.”
Jane Nelson, Chief Operating Officer at Cardo Group, said:
“We are delighted with this reappointment. It reflects the dedication and professionalism of our whole team who all work hard to support residents with essential maintenance services and by delivering important community initiatives. Applying innovative ways to hear from residents on what they expect from us will be the hallmark of the new contract.
“With our shared values and commitment to making a positive impact on residents’ everyday lives, we’re excited to build on our achievements with Dacorum Borough Council and continue improving homes and maintenance services across the borough.”
