Designer Contracts welcomes 25 new recruits post lockdown

One of the UK’s largest flooring contractors, Designer Contracts has welcomed 25 new members of staff to its team.

New recruits were employed just before the country went into lockdown – with the company honouring all contracts throughout the crisis.

Of those new recruits four have taken senior positions within the business. They include Ed Pajak who joins the company as sales manager for the West Midlands region, with a wealth of experience within the construction sector. Ed previously worked with the National Federation of Builders.

Abbie Lockett has joined the company’s design division as design sales consultant with previous interiors experience working in the hospitality sector.

With a host of experience within the flooring sector – including big projects like the London Eye, Nathan Boyden has joined as senior contracts manager. Megan Burnham has previous knowledge within the construction industry – focused on subsidence and insurance related repairs and has been appointed as sales consultant. Both will operate from the company’s Thames Valley region.

Said Designer Contracts md, Peter Kelsey:

“We’re delighted to have honoured all 25 new employees, recruited just before lockdown. We pledged to increase turnover and growth as part of a five-year plan in 2018, so being able to welcome more staff has been a major boost to the business.

“Despite the difficulties of the past few months, we’ve remained committed to our plans – including a move to head office space four times the size of our previous in Chesterfield (8,000 sq ft) HQ and also grown our customer base. We lay credit for this with our huge stock supply and ability to deliver on expectations when it is needed the most. We wish our new recruits well!”

Designer Contracts operates across 15 UK regional facilities. As well as flooring, the company provides curtains and blinds, furniture and lighting, and operates a showhome interior design services division.

The company is now fully compliant with the UK government guidelines on managing the risk of Covid 19 – and has been certified as a ‘Covid Safe’ employer.
