Orbit publishes latest Sustainability Report

Orbit has published its Sustainability Report 2025/26, showcasing significant progress against its 2030 Strategy and Sustainability Strategy, including exceeding its £100 million social value target ahead of schedule, delivering more affordable homes and reducing its operational carbon footprint by 42% since 2018/19.

The report demonstrates how sustainability continues to underpin Orbit’s approach to providing safe, affordable and energy-efficient homes while creating positive social and environmental impact for customers and communities.

Among the year’s headline achievements, Orbit:

  • Delivered 1,002 new affordable homes and increased its ambition to build and regenerate 7,000 homes by 2030.
  • Exceeded its £100 million social value target and set a new target of £550 million by 2030.
  • Achieved 89.5% of homes at EPC Band C or above, supporting lower bills and improved energy efficiency for customers.
  • Reduced its operational carbon footprint by 42% compared with its 2018/19 baseline.
  • Increased biodiversity management across its estates, with 19.5% of land now supporting nature recovery through its 30by30 programme.
  • Delivered £5.6 million of cost-of-living support and more than 10,000 customer support interventions through its Better Days programme.

The report outlines several priorities for 2026/27, including the next phase of its biodiversity programme, developing its climate adaptation approach, launching a Sustainability Impact Assessment, embedding sustainable procurement practices and accelerating delivery against its new £550 million social value target.
